About this opportunity:

The Drilling Department requires a Drilling Engineer with a technical background in Drilling Engineering and Operations. As a key member of Drilling Engineering group, you will be directly involved in all planning activities until the project is drill ready and then supporting, Drilling Operations when field activities are occurring. The primary project responsibility is Oil Sands Delineation in multiple assets.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure all activities follow regulatory, safety and environmental compliance

  • Collaborate to design, execute, and improve drilling programs

  • Research and implement innovative methods to increase production and reduce costs through Engineering techniques and operational design

  • Monitor cost performance and cycle times to improve program efficiencies

  • Liaise with field personnel to maintain project efficiency, from initial planning to final look backs

  • Collaborate with Completions and Production Engineering to maximize value for the well cycle and with Supply Chain on procurement activity

  • Execute program activities such as define well objectives, risk reviews, cost estimates, Basis of Designs for casing and cement, technical service selection, Drilling Program

  • Support Drilling Operations during field activities to ensure well objectives are met while achieving continuous improvement for time and cost efficiency

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

  • APEGA or APEGS professional designation, P.Eng or eligible to acquire designation

  • 4+ years’ experience in Engineering

  • Background in current drilling operations and technology is an asset

  • Experience in Deep Basin, SAGD, thermal and or heavy oil drilling is a benefit
