Enterprise Data Visualization & BI Platform Analyst

Help Shape the Future of Retail Analytics in Canada

At Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC), we’ve been helping Canadians live life in Canada since 1922. Today, we’re focused on becoming the #1 retail brand in Canada through continued investment in innovation, technology, and our people.

As part of this journey, our Data Visualization & Business Intelligence Platform team enables trusted, scalable, and high-quality analytics across the enterprise. We are modernizing how insights are delivered, enhancing governance and platform reliability, and helping teams make smarter decisions through better data and visualization capabilities.

If you are passionate about business intelligence, enterprise platforms, and driving meaningful impact through analytics, this is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the next generation of data and BI capabilities at CTC.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an Enterprise Data Visualization & BI Platform Analyst to join our Data Technology team. This role combines hands-on BI development, BI platform administration, governance, and enterprise enablement in a unified position.

You will serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for Power BI and enterprise visualization capabilities, helping to ensure our analytics environment is secure, scalable, well-governed, and aligned to business needs. This role will partner closely with business stakeholders, developers, data engineers, and support teams to improve adoption, optimize platform performance, and deliver high-quality analytics solutions across the organization.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working across both platform and delivery, and who brings a balance of technical depth, operational discipline, and a strong customer-focused mindset.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will support the ongoing evolution of Power BI as an enterprise analytics platform by enabling adoption, maintaining standards, and improving user experience across the organization. You will help administer and optimize platform capabilities including workspaces, gateways, tenant settings, premium capacities, security controls, deployment pipelines, and related governance processes.

As a key team member, you will provide guidance on best practices in data visualization, semantic modelling, report performance, security, and deployment approaches. You will participate in intake and demand processes, support prioritization and solution planning, troubleshoot platform and production issues, and work collaboratively across teams to improve analytics delivery and operational maturity.

This role will also contribute to modernization and continuous improvement efforts, including automation, DevOps practices, and the responsible adoption of Power BI and related analytics tools. Where needed, you will provide support and guidance across all other BI and visualization platforms in the enterprise ecosystem.

What You Bring

You bring strong experience in business intelligence, analytics, and enterprise platform support, along with a demonstrated ability to translate business needs into practical and scalable technical solutions. You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, working across multiple priorities, and partnering with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You likely have the following:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Visualization, Analytics, or Data Platform roles
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Power BI, including report development, semantic modelling, DAX, Power Query, and service administration
  • Experience with Power BI governance and platform capabilities, including workspace management, gateways, tenant settings, premium capacity administration, security, and deployment practices
  • Strong understanding of SQL and data modelling along with a solid understanding of dimensional design, data warehousing, and enterprise data management concepts
  • Experience integrating data from modern enterprise platforms, such as Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Synapse, SQL Server, and other technologies
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps practices, Git, and structured release management processes
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills across reports, datasets, and BI platforms
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and influence adoption of standards and best practices
  • Experience with tools such as ThoughtSpot, Tableau, MicroStrategy, Cognos, KNIME, Terraform, PySpark, or broader Azure services would be considered an asset, as would experience in retail or large-scale enterprise environments.

Our typical hiring range is between $53,000.00 and $88,000.00 CAD Annual. The target salary range is between $70,000.00 and $75,000.00 CAD Annual. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.

This posting represents an existing vacancy within our organization.

Fortunately, Calgary stands out as a hub for both, recognized as one of Startup Genome's Top 100 Emerging Ecosystems, while also playing host to a number of multinational enterprises. In Calgary, job seekers can find a wide range of opportunities.
