Venn is the fastest-growing B2B fintech in Canada.
We're on a mission to transform business banking for Canadian entrepreneurs and are looking to hire A-players interested in disrupting traditional banking practices. As the ONLY digital banking platform in Canada offering a truly modern solution, we have seen accelerated growth, scaling to support more than 5,000 Canadian businesses in under two years. Business owners are tired of the big banks’ monopoly and are looking for modern tools that replace the legacy systems that have been their only option for over 100 years.

We've raised over $26.5M from Tier 1 investors such as Gradient, Left Lane Capital, Intact, and XYZ Venture Capital. Interested in redefining the future of banking in Canada? Look no further.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Help build and level up a high-performing engineering team through mentorship, pairing, design discussions, and thoughtful code reviews.

  • Contribute directly to the codebase and architecture, setting a high technical bar across reliability, scalability, and security.

  • Take an active role in technical execution across backend systems and infrastructure, while shaping longer-term direction as the team scales;

  • Own the operational excellence of your group, managing sprint capacity, removing blockers, and ensuring high-velocity, high-quality delivery.

  • Contribute to the development of core financial products such as payments, cards, FX, and lending, and step in to lead initiatives when needed to ensure execution quality.

  • Work closely with product, operations, and go-to-market teams to understand real customer problems and turn them into impactful solutions.

  • Support and sometimes lead complex integrations with banking partners and third-party APIs to enable capabilities like virtual cards, cross-border transfers, and accurate financial data flows.

What You’ll Need

  • 10+ years software development experience (including 4+ years of managing engineering teams).

  • Fluency with Java/Kotlin/JVM.

  • Strong knowledge of modern web technologies and system design & architecture.

  • Experience in building and scaling products from scratch.

  • Management experience and developing the skills and talents of a strong and capable engineering team.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Have

  • Working experience across a breadth of our infrastructure, languages and stacks.

  • Experience at an early-stage or fast-growing startup.

  • Experience at a fintech.

  • Familiarity with payment products (card issuing, money transfers, credit, etc.).

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity package.

  • Latest tech and equipment.

What you need to know about the Calgary Tech Scene

Employees can spend up to one-third of their life at work, so choosing the right company is crucial, not just for the job itself but for the company culture as well. While startups often offer dynamic culture and growth opportunities, large corporations provide benefits like career development and networking, especially appealing to recent graduates. Fortunately, Calgary stands out as a hub for both, recognized as one of Startup Genome's Top 100 Emerging Ecosystems, while also playing host to a number of multinational enterprises. In Calgary, job seekers can find a wide range of opportunities.
