Role: Integration Architect

Experience Level:  10 plus years of experience

Employment type: Full-Time

Work location: Fredericton, NB/Remote Canada

What you’ll do:

We are seeking a highly experienced Integration Architect to lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise integration solutions supporting large-scale healthcare and public sector initiatives. This individual will provide architectural leadership across complex integration projects, ensuring interoperability, scalability, and alignment with enterprise standards.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience with healthcare messaging standards, Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) solutions, enterprise integration architecture, and technical leadership within large, complex organizations.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise integration solutions for complex healthcare and enterprise environments.

  • Define enterprise integration strategies, standards, and best practices that support long-term organizational objectives.

  • Facilitate technical design sessions, architecture reviews, and technical requirements gathering workshops with business and technical stakeholders.

  • Analyze existing systems and technologies to recommend scalable, secure, and maintainable integration solutions.

  • Develop architecture documentation, integration specifications, technical designs, and other project deliverables.

  • Design and implement integration solutions using healthcare interoperability standards including HL7 V2, HL7 V3, and FHIR.

  • Provide expertise in Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) architecture and patient identity management solutions.

  • Evaluate solution approaches, including custom development, Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS), and adapted COTS solutions.

  • Provide architectural guidance throughout the full project lifecycle, from planning through implementation and operational support.

  • Mentor architects, developers, analysts, and technical teams while promoting architecture governance and best practices.

  • Support enterprise integration services that can be leveraged across multiple business units and solutions.

  • Ensure integration solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.

  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Contribute to digital transformation initiatives through enterprise architecture leadership and technical oversight.

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Senior Systems Analyst, Senior Business Systems Analyst, Integration Architect, Solution Architect, or Enterprise Architect.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing and implementing healthcare interoperability solutions using:

  • HL7 Version 2

  • HL7 Version 3

  • FHIR

  • Minimum 2 years of experience implementing or supporting Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) solutions.

  • Experience working within large, complex enterprise or public sector environments.

  • Availability to work on-site in Fredericton, New Brunswick, as required.

Nice to have Skils:

  • 5+ years of experience managing or leading technical teams, architects, developers, or systems analysts.

  • 5+ years leading technical design workshops, architecture reviews, and technical requirements gathering sessions.

  • 5+ years developing enterprise integration architecture deliverables and technical solution documentation.

  • 5+ years delivering enterprise integration services and reusable integration frameworks across multiple business domains.

  • 5+ years implementing enterprise integration solutions supporting long-term operational and maintenance lifecycles.

  • 5+ years evaluating and recommending solution approaches, including custom-built, COTS, and hybrid solutions.

  • 5+ years serving as an architect on large-scale digital transformation initiatives while mentoring technical teams.

5+ years of hands-on experience with Pan-Canadian healthcare interoperability standards, including:

  • HL7 V2

  • HL7 V3 (MR2009 and CeRx)

  • FHIR

  • Experience working with Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions is considered an asset.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
