                                                                                    Job Description: Interactive Web Designer

Location: Remote, Canada

Type: Full-time

Team: MembersFirst Design & Development

About the role

Jonas Club Software builds the technology that private clubs across North America run on. Our MembersFirst team designs and builds the member-facing websites and portals those clubs use every day. We take our projects and our clients seriously, but not ourselves.

As an Interactive Web Designer, you'll own the look and feel of a website from the first client kick-off all the way to launch. You'll design mockups and prototypes in Figma, code them out in a local development environment, then tokenize them so they run inside the MembersFirst CMS, our proprietary content management system. You'll lead design meetings with clients and work closely with other designers, front-end developers, implementation specialists and client support.

We're looking for someone who raises their hand, welcomes feedback, and keeps looking for a faster, better way to work, including with AI tools.

What you'll do
  • Lead client design meetings. Run discovery and review sessions with club stakeholders. Clarify their goals, gather input, and present your work with confidence.
  • Design in Figma. Create responsive desktop, tablet and mobile mockups and interactive prototypes for websites and CMS modules.
  • Code it out. Build your designs in HTML, CSS and JavaScript in a local development environment.
  • Tokenize for the CMS. Convert finished code into reusable templates and tokens that work inside the MembersFirst CMS.
  • Advise. Give clients and teammates clear, expert recommendations on design, usability, and accessibility.
  • Manage your projects. Run several projects at once, track progress in our project management tools, and keep internal stakeholders updated on status.
  • Improve how we work. Find ways to speed up the path from mockup to launch, including AI-assisted design and coding, and share what you learn with the team.

What you bringMust have
  • 3+ years of professional web design and front-end development experience
  • A portfolio showing responsive websites you designed and built
  • Advanced Figma skills: components, auto layout, variants and prototyping
  • Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript, plus an understanding of how browsers render and behave
  • A strong eye for layout, colour, typography and visual hierarchy
  • Working knowledge of usability, UX and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)
  • Confidence leading client meetings and explaining design decisions in plain language
  • Excellent time management: you hit deadlines across several projects without losing attention to detail
  • Clear, concise written communication

How you work
  • You raise your hand. You volunteer for new challenges and jump in when a teammate needs help.
  • You welcome feedback. You give and receive critique openly, and use it to make the work better.
  • You collaborate. You work well with designers, developers, and project managers, and you communicate before you're asked.
  • You're always getting faster. You look for smarter workflows, reusable patterns and shortcuts that keep quality high.
  • You're curious about AI. You already use, or are eager to use, AI tools to speed up design, coding, and content work.
  • You own the outcome. You hold yourself accountable for quality, from the first sketch to launch.

Nice to have
  • Experience with a CMS templating or tokenization system (for example, HubSpot, WordPress, or Shopify Liquid)
  • Experience with Git and a modern local development setup (for example, VS Code or Node-based build tools)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Experience in agency or client-services work
  • Knowledge of the private club, hospitality, or membership industry

Compensation and working hours
  • Salary: CAD 70-80,000 per year, based on experience
  • Hours: Full-time. Core hours are 9:00 am–6:00 pm Eastern Time for client meetings and team collaboration.
  • Location: Fully remote. You must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
