The Role

Neo Financial is looking for an Intermediate Android Developer to join our team in Calgary.

In this role, you will collaborate with other talented developers, deliver high-quality code and contribute to exciting and impactful projects. You‘ll work on building new features for a highly rated Android app while following best practices like automated testing and code reviews. You’ll work with cutting edge tools and patterns. Our technology stack is built using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and GraphQL.

What you'll be doing:

  • Write exemplary code in Kotlin to create the best-in-class Android app that interfaces with our GraphQL API.

  • Create features and reusable components with Jetpack Compose.

  • Working closely with iOS and Web engineers to develop a consistent user experience.

  • Learn the patterns and practices needed to build robust and maintainable code.

  • Perform meaningful code reviews with in-depth yet constructive criticism; give and take feedback.

  • Actively work on high-quality unit and UI testing.

  • Ensure solutions meet customer and business needs - not just minimum defined requirements

  • Leverage AI-powered development tools like GitHub Copilot for code generation and to assist in code reviews.

Who we are looking for:

  • Fluent in Kotlin and app architecture principles.

  • 2+ years of full-time experience as an Android developer.

  • Proficient with Android Studio, Git and GitHub.

  • Interest in expanding your skills to encompass new languages and technologies.

  • Familiarity with releasing an app to Google Play Store using CI/CD practices.

  • You possess a passion for Android design principles and user experience.

  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada and willing to relocate to Calgary.

  • Familiarity with AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) is an asset.
