Program Overview: We are excited to invite candidates to apply for our internship program as a Land Data Analyst Researcher Intern, part of our IMPACT Program. IMPACT (Innovative Mentoring and Professional Acceleration in Commodities) is designed to cultivate early career talent globally within Commodity Insights. This internship will take place from May to August. 

Role Overview: As part of our Land & Leasing team in Canada, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of land and lease data management. The intern will utilize their knowledge in Petroleum Engineering and database technologies to establish data transformation rules that will aid our developers. You will be responsible for maintaining data quality through comprehensive manual and automated testing, as well as addressing and resolving any technical issues that arise during daily operations. 

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) will guide you in addressing concerns from both internal and external stakeholders, emphasizing continuous learning and the effective use of our proprietary land software. Upholding quality standards and developing optimization strategies are vital to this role, driving excellence in our land management processes. 

Location: Calgary, Canada (relocation assistance not available) 

Key Responsibilities: 

During your internship with the North American Land team, you will provide critical support to the SME in various facets of land and lease data management. Your primary responsibilities will include: 

  • Dataset Understanding: Familiarize yourself with existing Canadian Land datasets and explore opportunities to integrate new datasets by leveraging current information. 

  • Research Initiatives: Conduct research on potential new datasets for Canadian Land Data. Collaborate with internal clients to gather their requirements. 

  • Communication Skills: Build strong relationships with clients and internal teams to ensure effective collaboration. 

  • Data Transformation Support: Assist in defining data transformation rules and participate in both manual and automated testing to ensure data quality. 

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Investigate and help resolve technical challenges in daily land processes under the guidance of the SME. 

This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in data management and optimization strategies within a professional setting. 

Qualifications: 

Required: 

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field, with an expected graduation by early Summer 2026. 

  • Knowledge of the petroleum industry. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

  • Familiarity with land survey systems used in Canada. 

  • Understanding of relational database concepts. 

  • Proficiency in SQL. 

Preferred: 

  • Excellent organizational skills. 

  • Strong attention to detail.
