This role ensures compliance with Canadian federal, provincial, and local regulations while aligning with standards such as ISO 14001 and COR (Certificate of Recognition). The EHS Manager also leads the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, integrating sustainability into daily operations and long-term planning. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an integrated EHS management system aligned with ISO 14001, COR, and provincial OH&S legislation (e.g., OHSA, WSIB in Ontario, WCB in Western provinces)
  • Lead internal and external audits, inspections, and certification efforts related to ISO 14001, COR, and other applicable EHS standards.
  • Ensure company compliance with federal and provincial environmental and occupational health & safety regulations (e.g., Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Environment, WSIB/WCB).
  • Manage the full cycle of incident reporting and investigation using root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Lead risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHA), and ergonomic evaluations to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Champion ESG initiatives, including tracking and reporting of key sustainability metrics: energy, emissions, waste, water usage, and social/community impacts.
  • Collaborate with Facilities and Maintenance on environmental projects such as emissions reductions, utility efficiency, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Deliver training programs and safety orientations to ensure regulatory compliance and employee awareness.
  • Manage emergency response and preparedness planning, including fire drills, spill response, and evacuation procedures.
  • Engage employees and management in continuous improvement initiatives for both safety and sustainability.
  • Develop and track KPIs for safety performance (e.g., TRIR, LTIR, near misses) and environmental impact, and report results to leadership.
  • Serve as the primary contact for government inspectors, insurance representatives, and third-party auditors.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to compliance, audits, inspections, permits, and incident logs.
  • Lead or support the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives as part of broader ESG goals.
