The Opportunity

Our Commercial Marketing Analytics team is expanding to support the continued growth of TC Energy’s non‑regulated Power and Energy Solutions business. We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Power Fundamentals & Structuring Analyst to deliver deep market insights and support structured transactions across North American power markets.

This role is a hands‑on, individual contributor position focused on power market fundamentals, quantitative modeling, and deal structuring support. The successful candidate will work closely with  trading, origination, business development  and risk teams to inform commercial decisions, optimize portfolio value, and support complex evaluations across the full lifecycle of opportunities.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain medium‑ to long‑term power market fundamental views, including supply, demand, generation mix, transmission constraints, and pricing dynamics focused on ERCOT, PJM, and SPP markets
  • Use PLEXOS software to build, enhance, and operate quantitative models (e.g., production cost, dispatch, scenario, and valuation models) to support commercial analysis and structured transactions.
  • Support the evaluation and structuring of power‑related commercial opportunities, including asset‑backed transactions, long‑term contracts, and structured products.
  • Partner closely with Business Development, Trading, Origination, Risk, and Finance teams to provide actionable insights that inform deal economics and risk assessment.
  • Analyze market data, third‑party forecasts, and internal assumptions to identify key drivers, sensitivities, and risks.
  • Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, decision‑ready insights for commercial stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical tools, data quality, and modeling frameworks.
  • Support ad‑hoc commercial analysis and strategic initiatives as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience performing fundamental analysis in one of the three targeted markets: PJM, SPP, ERCOT.
  • Understanding of wholesale electricity markets, market design, and power system fundamentals.
  • Experience modelling and analyzing congestion.
  • Demonstrated experience with quantitative modeling and data analysis, including tools such as Python, Power BI, Excel, and/or commercial power market software.
  • Understanding of structured transactions or asset‑based commercial opportunities in power and/or energy markets.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into concise, commercially relevant insights.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across multidisciplinary commercial teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using PLEXOS software strongly preferred
  • Exposure to gas‑power interaction, heat rates, or cross‑commodity analysis.
  • Experience automating workflows, dashboards, or analytical processes.
  • 5+ years of experience in power market fundamentals, structuring, trading analytics, or energy market analysis.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, or PhD) in a quantitative or business discipline.
