- Provides professional and exceptional service when communicating with all customers and internal stakeholders for all rating related inquiries.
- Plays a leadership role in the Pricing Department, being a team player and collaborating effectively with all team members to achieve daily assigned objectives.
- Support Business Development and participate in projects and exercises that support yield improvement and revenue growth initiatives.
- Assist with transportation invoice inquiries and resolutions and work directly with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve invoice disputes.
- Performs pricing and rates administration and works directly with external customers as well as internal stakeholders.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of all tariff and non-tariff rate structure within Transportation Management System (TMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
- Maintain and update Lineage and customer specific Fuel Surcharge (FSC) programs as well as all accessorial charges within TMS.
- Subject matter expert within TMS and CRM for the maintenance of rate sheets, accessorial charges and FSC programs.
- Supporting the execution and implementation of the annual general rate increase (GRI).
- Supports the preparation of customer spot rate quotes and shipment cost verifications for both existing and new customers.
- Acts as a costing and pricing liaison for company-wide enquiries.
- Collaborates with Business Development to develop competitive customer pricing proposals to maximize account revenue and profitability.
- Translates business opportunities and customer needs into collaborative pricing solutions.
- Dissects and prepares RFP / RFQ bid opportunities for pricing analysis and development.
- Develops fact-based costing using costing software by conducting analysis of opportunity service requirements.
- Ensures rigor and accuracy in all pricing analysis and operates within the approved guideline framework of the pricing department.
- Ensures accurate and timely completion of all assigned pricing proposals and communicate to both external customers and business development.
- Performs margin and pricing analysis to support the business.
- Prepares reports for both internal and external distribution as required
Prepares reporting to track key performance indicators and pricing activities within the department as required.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required, including answering the telephone, relaying messages, and responding to or re-directing customer requests for appropriate handling.
Provides vacation coverage for team.
3 - 5 years of experience in the transportation or logistics industry, in an LTL and/or TL environment.
Costing, pricing and/or rating experience in an LTL and/or TL environment is desirable.
Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Professional Logistics (P. Log) designation or CITT is considered an asset.
- Excellent working knowledge of Office 365 products with advanced excel skills.
- Strong computer skills
- Experience with costing software (CIS) and TMS (Truckmate or Blue Yonder) is considered an asset.
- Strong organization skills and sharp attention to detail.
- Motivated and innovative self-starter with demonstrated initiative.
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to deal with ambiguity and recommend solutions.
