Position Overview:Finning Canada is looking to hire a permanent, fulltime Product Owner II in wither Surrey or Calgary or Edmonton. As a Product Owner you will be working as part of the Digital Platforms team. You’ll participate in business requirements gathering and documentation sessions (user stories and epics) as required for the global business and the 3 regions working closely with a range of peers. You will perform requirements analysis to dive deeper into both current state and future state. You will contribute to the building of business cases and models as the team builds new solutions and products for global Finning business units and stakeholders.
You will be a member of an agile team and will be responsible for defining stories and prioritizing the Team Backlog to streamline the execution for program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features for the team.

Job Description:Accountability:
  • Ensure development teams have clear and concise user stories for at least 2 sprints

  • Best practices and recommended Finning standards are followed

  • Delivery of multiple features are balanced and delivered according to previously agreed timelines within 1 planning increment

  • Estimations for feature work include input from relevant professional practices in Finning such as architecture, UX, UI, and QA.

Major Job Functions:
  • Act as a Product Owner with development team(s) (60%)
    • Create and manage a backlog of well-groomed user stories for the features that you are actively working on

    • Ensure that stories are completed to an acceptable level, have the correct UX/UI inputs and are in line with our product strategy

    • Ensure that the definition of ready and definition of done are met to a high level of quality

  • Feature development (25%)
    • Work with the product management team to understand the product

    • Work on the near term roadmap by providing input into feature creation

    • Participate in wider demonstrations of the platform to the wider Finning business and all stakeholders

  • Documentation (10%)
    • Provide comprehensive documentation on the features you are building

    • Support and manage your squad members in the production of necessary documents.

  • Process Improvements (5%)
    • Support operational improvements to our development pipeline from planning through to execution

    • Follow best practice and ensure that you and your squad operate to a high standard

    • Ensure that process is adhered to, ensuring that a quality delivery plan can be followed

Mandatory (Must-Have) Skills:
  • Product owner skillset; 5+ years of equivalent experience

  • Agile practitioner in at least 1 professional role

  • Full lifecycle software delivery

  • Customer journey mapping

  • Feature/Capability planning

  • Experience with in depth requirements gathering

  • A minimum of degree level education or the equivalent relevant industry experience

  • Agile certification 

Preferred (Non-Mandatory) Skills:
  • Salesforce/CRM/ERP work experience

  • A knowledge of current and emerging technology

  • Knowledge of UX and CX

  • Wireframing and rapid prototyping

  • QA and UAT practices

Soft Skills:
  • Proven track record of dealing with stakeholders

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills. Concise and clear written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to adapt to the needs of specific audiences

  • Solid time management, planning and prioritization skills, with an ability to manage multiple task and priorities concurrently

  • Solid organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Resilience, with the ability to adapt under changing business priorities

  • Ability to continue to learn and develop
