The opportunity

Land CA has an opportunity available for a program leader who has the skills and drive to proactively manage Public Awareness and support damage prevention through public safety engagement for operational and project activities across TCE’s CA footprint. 

In this exciting role, you are the liaison between the Canada Gas Damage Prevention team, the responsibilities include:

What you’ll do

  • Monitor third-party risks, damages and unauthorized activities

  • Planning, designing, developing, implementing and administering public awareness policies, programs and processes through functional supervision of staff

  • Support operations teams to identify threat areas and implementation of mitigation efforts

  • Analyze and track metrics as it relates to pipeline safety to identify trends and develop action plans

  • Interface with key stakeholders and identified audiences, including presentations, planning and hosting meetings or training sessions

  • Assist field operations with coordination of public awareness liaison meetings as required

  • Work collaboratively to support all damage prevention activities, interfacing with internal departments, vendors, stakeholders and industry organizations

  • Manage records and prepare documentation for regulatory inspections

  • Work in conjunction with local, provincial, federal One Call programs to support the prevention and reduction of damages to pipeline facilities

  • Act as an ambassador of TC Energy with external stakeholders with a focus on enhancing relationships with TC Energy landowners

  • Directly supporting departmental budgeting, staffing and business operations planning

  • Monitoring performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing any required changes

  • Championing and leading the development and promotion of a safe work culture

Minimum Qualifications

  • University Degree or appropriate professional accreditation

  • Minimum 6 years of related experience

  • Experience in Damage Prevention, Public Awareness, Community Engagement, Regulatory Compliance and/or Emergency Management (Energy Industry-preferred)

  • Proven people-leadership capabilities with the demonstrated capability of guiding teams toward making sound decisions

  • Passionate about making an impact and the ability to influence diverse teams, as demonstrated through experience as a high performing contributor

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in fast paced environment

  • Ability to develop and manage programs and resources, while dealing with ambiguity and a dynamic work environment

  • Relentless drive to overcome obstacles and deliver results, applying refined analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Dynamic broad thinking that recognizes interdependencies and connections in complex environments and able to appreciate multi-faceted contexts

  • Effectively leverages negotiating strategies and tactics to reach mutually agreeable solutions

  • Effective communication skills with an ability to establish trust and communicate issues without alienating individuals

  • Comfortable, diplomatic, and skilled at influencing at various levels within the organization and externally

  • Detailed knowledge of federal, provincial, legislative and regulatory requirements for Land, and the ability to apply such knowledge

  • Travel within CA is required approximately 25% of the time; and as such the candidate must be able to provide applicable travel documentation

  • Successful completion of Security Clearance/Criminal Check may be required

  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education, a degree or business diploma, coupled with a minimum 10 years of experience in Public Awareness, Stakeholder Engagement, Land Management, Communications or Government Relations in the context of the infrastructure industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent organizational skills entailing demonstrated ability for goal setting, delegation, time management, project management

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively across an organization for issue resolution

  • Refined customer service, where there is an understanding of and responsiveness to customer needs

  • Experience working with strategic partners and maintaining strong relationships

  • Knowledge of land procedures, relevant land legislation and regulations considered an asset

  • Knowledge of pipeline and facility construction, and operations best management practices considered an asset

  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated success contributing to strategic business results

  • General knowledge of applicable codes, practices, laws and regulatory processes relevant to the energy infrastructure

  • Skills and experience in project management and project execution methodologies

  • Possess an appropriate sense of urgency and attention to detail
