About the team

Treasury Reporting sits within Wealthsimple's Finance team, where numbers become decisions. We own the reconciliations and reporting that keep Wealthsimple's cash, collateral, and financial risk visible and under control across every entity and feature we offer — work that's essential to staying audit-ready as the business grows. We're a small, high-trust team, embedded in the business rather than watching from the sidelines, and we hold ourselves to a high bar for both rigour and clarity. If you want your work to directly protect the business and the millions of clients who trust us with their money, this is the place to do it.

About the role

This role exists to keep Wealthsimple's books straight and its financial risk visible — every day, across every entity and feature we offer. You'll own daily bank reconciliations, dig into the breaks that come up, and work with teams across the company to close them out before they become bigger problems. The Senior Associate leads reporting and workflow improvements and takes on the more complex, higher-risk breaks. This isn't a role where you wait for a playbook — SOC1 compliance and financial risk don't wait either.

What you'll do
:
  • Own daily bank reconciliations across Treasury accounts and payments rails, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and audit-readiness.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Finance) and use in house AI tools to optimize workflows and drive project success.

  • Act as a key stakeholder in break resolution, partnering with your manager and other teams to close out issues that carry real business risk

  • Maintain or develop multiple reporting deliverables with varying frequencies, managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring consistent quality standards.

  • Support the team on complex projects within Treasury Cash and Collateral Management, facilitating communication and problem-solving across teams.

  • Conduct in-depth analysis using SQL, AI, and other tools to inform critical business decisions related to Treasury operations and strategy

  • Use AI tools responsibly, and within Wealthsimple's internal controls, to support your day-to-day work

  • Maintain reporting and workflow-optimisation projects that make reconciliation faster, clearer, and more scalable across the team. Take on the more complex, higher-risk breaks and drive them through to resolution

  • Financial modeling, coding/automation, ability to contribute to a data model, and experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Superset) is preferred

  • Support Treasury reporting projects, helping surface the root causes behind recurring breaks rather than just resolving them one-off

What you’ll bring:
  • Relevant experience: Demonstrated success in Treasury and financial operations, banking and payments, or other operations roles in related fields.

  • Report Management: Proven experience overseeing end-to-end report lifecycle management, from requirements gathering to delivery. Ability to manage multiple reporting deliverables with varying frequencies and stakeholder groups, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Organization & planning: Plans, organizes, and schedules in a productive manner, allowing for a focus on key priorities and regular updates

  • Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in collaboration with various team members

  • Strong written and verbal communication: Speaks plainly and truthfully. Communicates complex ideas in a simple & easy-to-understand way for any audience (e.g. engineering, 3rd party vendors, growth/operational teams, executive team)

  • Problem solving: If something seems off, you want to figure out what's going on; you enjoy navigating uncertainty, bringing clarity to ambiguity and don't wait for a playbook to be written

  • Proactive & Action Oriented: Acts without being told what to do; taking full ownership of work, and proactively seeks help and input when needed to provide well supported solutions

  • Efficiency: Ability to produce significant output with minimum wasted effort; finds the path of least resistance to the problem definition, solution and execution

  • Honesty/integrity: Doesn't cut corners; does what is right, not what is politically expedient

  • Data & analytics: Has a strong proficiency in SQL, and a history of using data to answer complex problems. Ability to translate business requirements into technical reporting solutions.

  • Stakeholder Management: Experience with complex reporting processes and stakeholder requirements, with proven ability to deliver financial reports to senior leadership and various business units.

  • Financial modeling, coding/automation, ability to contribute to a data model, and experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Superset) is preferred

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis or similar role

  • Experience with a treasury management system (e.g., Kyriba) or similar

  • Hands-on experience with SQL for extracting, analysing, and reporting on financial data. Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Superset)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort navigating ambiguity without a set playbook

  • Excellent written and verbal communication — able to explain a reconciliation issue clearly to a technical or non-technical audience alike

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively

Who you are
  • You dig into what's off rather than waiting to be told — a break doesn't sit unexplained on your desk

  • You take ownership end-to-end, and you're comfortable working without a playbook that's already been written for you

  • You communicate clearly, whether you're explaining an issue to an engineer or a finance lead

  • You do what's right, not what's easiest or fastest to get off your plate

  • You're organized enough to juggle multiple reporting deadlines without dropping the ball

  • You're comfortable working with AI tools where they genuinely help, and know where the line is
