POSITION OVERVIEW


BDC is the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs. As a Senior Commercial Account Manager, you will build and manage relationships with small and medium-sized businesses, supporting their growth through financing and advisory solutions. You will work with entrepreneurs generating revenues between $3M and $50M, helping them achieve their business objectives while contributing directly to the success of Canadian businesses and the Canadian economy.


CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Meet with entrepreneurs to understand their business needs, challenges, and growth objectives; recommend appropriate BDC financing and advisory solutions.
  • Execute a business development plan aligned with Business Centre objectives to grow and retain a portfolio of clients and develop a pipeline of new business opportunities.
  • Analyze, structure, negotiate, and present financing proposals while applying sound credit and lending judgment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, referral partners, and centers of influence (COIs) to generate new business opportunities.
  • Maintain an active presence within the local business community and leverage professional networks to support portfolio growth.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment while supporting the growth of Canadian entrepreneurs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of experience in commercial banking, commercial lending, business financing, or a related financial services environment.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements, including:
    • Balance sheets
    • Income statements
    • Cash flow statements
  • Demonstrated business development experience, including prospecting, lead generation, and achieving sales, portfolio growth, or revenue targets.
  • Experience managing client relationships and delivering customer service to business clients.
  • Experience reviewing, structuring, negotiating, and/or presenting financing, lending, or credit proposals.
  • Knowledge of commercial credit assessment and lending practices.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingualism (English and French).
  • Established professional network in the Thunder Bay region.
  • Experience working with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with annual revenues between $3M and $50M.
  • Experience developing referral-based business through centers of influence (COIs), professional advisors, or business networks.
  • Advanced negotiation skills.
  • Experience building partnerships within the local business community.
