What you will do

The Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving environmental, health, and safety programs to support a safe, health, and compliant workplace. This role partners closely with operations and leadership to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and company standards, support environmental and safety management systems, lead incident investigations including management of corrective and preventive actions, and foster proactive culture of continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • EHS Program Management
    • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve EHS programs, policies, procedures, and management systems.
    • Conduct hazard assessments, risk evaluations, and workplace inspections to identify opportunities for risk reduction and continuous improvement.
    • Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 management systems and related initiatives.
    • Partner with operational teams to promote a proactive safety culture and integrate EHS best practices into daily operations.
  • Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, provincial, and municipal environmental, health, and safety legislation, as well as Kenvue Standards.
    • Monitor regulatory changes and recommend updates to programs, procedures, and training to maintain compliance.
    • Plan and conduct internal EHS audits, inspections, and compliance assessments to self-identify gaps, including development, implementation, and monitoring of mitigation actions.
    • Support regulatory inspections, customer audits, and corporate EHS assessments.
  • Incident Management
    • Lead the investigation of workplace incidents, injuries, good saves, and environmental events to determine root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
    • Monitor incident trends and performance metrics to identify risks and recommend improvement initiatives.
    • Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including response planning, drills, and post-event reviews.
    • Maintain accurate EHS records, documentation, and reports in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Communication and Training
    • Develop and deliver EHS training and awareness programs to employees, supervisors, and leaders.
    • Provide technical guidance and coaching to support informed decision-making and regulatory compliance.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, Joint Health and Safety Committees, and leadership to drive engagement and continuous improvement.
    • Prepare and present EHS performance reports, compliance updates, and recommendations to management.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience
    • 5–7 years of progressive Environmental Health and Safety experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
    • Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment (preferred).
    • Experience implementing and auditing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems (preferred).
  • Skills
    • Demonstrated proficiency in developing and implementing EHS programs, conducting audits and risk assessments, and leading incident investigations, including implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
    • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act, and applicable regulations to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, manage competing priorities, and proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate risks.
  • Licenses/Certifications
    • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH), Environmental Professional (EP), or an equivalent EHS designation (preferred).
    • Current certification or formal training in relevant EHS disciplines such as Process Safety Management (PSM), Machine Guarding, Fall Protection, Standard First Aid/CPR, Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification, or related programs (preferred).

Work Environment
This is an on-site position based in Guelph, Ontario. Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments and requires regular presence on the production floor. Occasional (<10%) travel to other company locations may be required.

What’s in it for you

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:$92,600.00 - $142,600.00

This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
