Job Description

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will work out of our Calgary corporate office and play a key role in preparing and analyzing quarterly and annual financial statements, as well as management discussion and analysis. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting, you will ensure that all reports, accounting, and documentation comply with company regulations, professional standards, and IFRS reporting guidelines. This position is part of our hybrid working program, offering flexibility in your work environment. 

We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative setting. 

What would you be doing? 

  • Collaborate with finance leadership, including the VP of Finance, Controllers, and Treasury Analyst, to support Corporate Finance, Accounting, and Treasury functions, and cross-train with team members. 
  • Assist in aligning financial reporting strategies with organizational goals, mitigate financial risks, and support preparation of consolidated financial statements and analyses for Board and external reporting compliance. 
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and develop accounting policies while providing recommendations for financial improvements and process efficiencies. 
  • Increase productivity by enhancing automated reporting tools, identifying process improvements, and supporting the implementation of advanced tools like robotic process automation. 
  • Support technical accounting research, maintain compliance with accounting policies, collaborate with auditors, ensure covenant compliance, and provide financial guidance to align accounting with business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Experience in financial reporting and accounting, with strong knowledge of IFRS and public company reporting requirements. Proven experience preparing consolidated financial statements, management reporting, technical accounting research, and supporting external audits is essential.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with experience in preparing reports and communicating complex concepts effectively. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Workiva for financial reporting, as well as MS Office, with ERP experience as an asset. 
  • Skilled in preparing various written materials, including reports and accounting memos for management and public company reporting. 
  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration, a CPA designation, and has at least 7 years of relevant experience.
