The CIMA+ Mobility team is currently seeking applications for the position of Senior Graphic Designer to join our Mobility Department in any of the following GTHA offices: Toronto, Burlington or Mississauga. Reporting to Senior Staff in a newly created role, the graphic designer will have a strong background in visual communication and design, with the ability to translate complex transportation and mobility concepts into clear, compelling graphics, maps, exhibits, public display materials, reports and proposals. This role requires creativity, technical proficiency, an ability to balance competing deadlines and projects and an understanding of design principles that can contribute to planning, engineering, and stakeholder engagement deliverables.
Example projects the applicant can expected to be involved with include: planning and policy studies including long-range transportation studies, safety and mobility plans, preliminary design and Environmental Assessment studies, engineering feasibility studies and public engagement in addition to supporting graphic preparation for proposals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality graphics, illustrations, and layouts for reports, presentations, proposals, and digital platforms.
- Create visualisations for transportation and mobility projects, including maps, infographics, and conceptual diagrams.
- Collaborate with planners, engineers, and project managers to ensure design outputs align with technical content and client expectations.
- Maintain consistency with the CIMA+ brand across all deliverables and adhere to corporate design standards.
- Support the development of marketing materials and visual assets for business development initiatives including supporting proposal development.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or similar OR degree/diploma in urban planning/landscape design or similar with relevant experience with graphic design.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in graphic design, preferably in engineering, planning, or infrastructure sectors.
- Significant experience and capabilities in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Significant experience and capabilities with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word) – for integration with reports and presentations.
- Excellent understanding of typography, colour theory, and layout principles.
- Ability to interpret complex data and technical information into visually engaging formats.
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities
- Familiarity and skills with SketchUp or similar 3D modelling software would be considered an asset.
- Familiarity and skills with GIS tools (ArcGIS or QGIS) would be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) would be considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
