Available Position:
- We are seeking a talented Senior Manager (M4) for the Broadband and Application SW organization’s Integration Test, Sanity, Regression, and Automation team.
How You Will Contribute:
- As a Senior Manager, you will lead, inspire, and mentor a world-class test team for Ciena’s 6500 Broadband and Waveserver E-Series product lines.
- The team is responsible for developing and executing Integration Test, Automation, Sanity, and Regression activities on the given products.
- You will report to Jeffrey Fratesi, Director of Broadband and Application Software.
Responsibilities:
- People Management:
- You will be responsible for managing a team of ~10-15 employees, including contractors, technicians, and students.
- Your people management day-to-day will involve tasks such as handling PTO requests, supporting career development, facilitating effective communication, addressing employee questions and concerns, planning staff and headcount requirements, managing performance evaluations, handling compensation, managing JIRAs, and conducting regular staff meetings.
- Program Responsibilities (6500 Broadband, Waveserver E-Series):
- You will oversee Integration Test and Automation planning, execution, and reporting.
- You will oversee Sanity and Regression planning, execution, and reporting.
- You will help to manage RPU (Robustness, Performance, and Upgrades) test activities.
- You will manage design team’s portion of lab inventory.
- You will be responsible for managing the test contracts / matrixes.
- You will coordinate closely with the Product Verification (PV) team as part of the "Ciena Test Team".
- You will facilitate Design/IT/Systems/PV touch point meetings during critical program phases.
- Test Leadership
- You will be one of the leaders in this area along with peer test managers for other products.
- You will ensure collaboration amongst these teams and managers. E.g., share best practices, exchange staff resources, and disseminate information.
- You will play a vital role in driving the vision of testing both within and outside the team.
- Design Field Support:
- You will take on the role of Waveserver E-Series ETD (Escalate To Design) prime.
- This role involves being the front person and representative for E-Series field support investigations and coordination.
- You will be responsible for managing and tracking JIRAs related to ETD issues.
The Must Haves:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer or Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent.
- 5-10 years of test and/or software development experience with at least 3 years of leadership.
- Familiarity with embedded software development and test methodologies.
- Ability to lead/drive a test and lab-focused team, including independently overseeing the development and execution of complex integration and sanity plans.
Assets:
- Strong technical knowledge of or background in Ciena’s 6500, Waveserver, and Waveserver E-Series products.
- Proven track record managing high-performing teams to deliver complex content as part of a multi-functional product development team.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills and presence.
- Experience in developing and coaching people.
- Experience with the full software development Life Cycle (definition, development, delivery, support, end-of-life).
- Experience with leading test
Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position is $136, 000 - $217, 200
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
