What you’ll do

Responsibilities may include:

• Modeling complex derivatives and hedging strategies, assessing their impact on cash flow, and evaluating Cenovus’s cash at flow risk

• Assist the team in modeling assets to capture real option features of the physical portfolio, measuring cash flow risk, valuing financial derivatives

• Some work requires research – assisting more senior team members with probability research projects will expose the student to advanced concepts in modeling

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

• Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).

• Available to begin work in May 2026.

• Strong quantitative and analytical skills with operational knowledge and willingness to learn or grow skills with tools such as R, Python and SQL

• Solid analytical and Microsoft Suite skills, specifically Excel.

• Excellent interpersonal, judgement, and decision-making skills.

Education

• Must be enrolled in a Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science/Computer Science, Risk Management at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.

• Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.

• New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
