Technical Writer

We’re seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our Software and Digital Platform team. You’ll work closely with Software and system integration engineers to create clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation and go-to-market collaterals for our software products and full-stack solutions. He/She will support developers, end-users, and internal teams by making complex technical information understandable and adhering to ADI’s branding and documentation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • He/she will oversee the collection and organization of information, and the preparation, editing, and revision of numerous documents required for customer support, including user manuals, training materials, installation guides, and other reports and deliverables.
  • He/she will collaborate with multiple technical professions including software developers, system engineers, test engineers, HDL engineers, hardware engineers and release engineers in capturing data and media to support technical documentation generation.
  • Proofreading, rewriting as necessary, or writing new copy where appropriate. The individual will edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, and other customer deliverables and documents.
  • The technical writer will ensure all content adheres to the brand’s voice and standards while determining the suitability of material for the target audience.
  • He/she is expected to review copy for consistency as well as identify design issues, such as the proper use of fonts and logos while operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Organize and prioritize work activities to handle multiple and competing projects simultaneously.
  • The editor will work closely with internal, and global partners and must have excellent communication skills and the ability to provide explicit and constructive feedback in a professional and positive manner. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Writing (English, communications, or marketing), or related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of technical writing experience preparing documents, reports, responses, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience effectively formatting and editing technical publications and proposals, including writing, editing, and illustrating using the MS Office Suite and/or on-line (wiki)
  • Experience working with system engineers, software engineers, and program management to translate technical information into clear, concise documentation including user manuals
  • Must be able to plan and prioritize personal tasking and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Must be an independent thinker, capable of performing high-quality work, both independently and with a team, in a fast-moving environment

Nice to Have:

  • Strong aptitude and desire to read and learn about technical topics.
  • Recent experience in a system/software development program compiling, editing, and publishing documentation is an advantage.
  • Prior experience working in a corporate setting within a technical team is preferred.
  • Familiarity with tools like Git / GitHub workflows and documentation platforms like Confluence.

For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export  licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.  As such, applicants for this position – except US Citizens, US Permanent Residents, and protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) – may have to go through an export licensing review process.
