This is a high-impact, consultative role for a compensation professional who thrives in complexity, partners confidently with senior leaders, and brings both tactical precision and strategic thinking to compensation decisions and program design. This role supports compensation programs across both Canadian and U.S. operations, requiring regular application of U.S. market practices and employment considerations.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a trusted compensation advisor to HR Business Partners and leaders, including senior and executive stakeholders, ensuring alignment with AltaGas’ compensation philosophy

  • Lead job documentation, market pricing, and wage analysis, making recommendations ranging from individual job pricing to broader compensation program design

  • Analyze and recommend salary levels for internal and external offers, bringing context, clarity, and market insight to compensation decisions

  • Design and maintain advanced compensation models and analytics to support decision‑making, workforce planning, and program evaluation

  • Identify recruiting and market compensation trends and advise on enterprise‑level implications and responses

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of compensation systems, including testing, data audits, and ongoing governance (Workday experience is an asset)

  • Educate and coach leaders and HR partners on compensation practices, philosophy, and decision frameworks

  • Apply knowledge of Canadian and U.S. employment and compensation regulations to analyses and recommendations, escalating complex matters as appropriate

What You Bring

  • 5-10 years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in compensation supporting broad‑based programs

  • Hands‑on experience supporting compensation decisions for U.S. roles or business units as part of a broader compensation portfolio

  • Demonstrated experience consulting directly with senior and executive leaders on compensation strategies

  • Strong knowledge of market‑based compensation practices and relevant employment legislation

  • Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, modeling); comfort working in highly detailed, data‑driven environments

  • Experience with Workday compensation modules is a strong asset; energy sector and/or international compensation experience is a plus

  • CCP, PHR, or SHRM‑CP designation preferred

Why Join

  • Play a meaningful role in shaping and evolving compensation strategy during a period of enterprise transformation, supporting a growing, cross-border organization

  • Partner closely with HR and the business as a trusted advisor, applying advanced analytics and market insight to complex, real‑world compensation decisions

  • Join a dynamic energy organization where scale, complexity, and transformation create ongoing opportunities to learn, design, and drive modern compensation programs
