Lead TAR’s autonomy software organization for construction robots, owning strategy, architecture, perception, planning, controls, deployment, and continuous improvement across a growing fleet. Hire and develop engineers and managers, guide the software lifecycle, partner closely with hardware and manufacturing teams, and establish field-feedback loops. The role represents autonomy with executives, customers, partners, and investors and requires substantial field engagement at the West Texas deployment site.

Lead the buildout and scale-up of an assembly, quality-control, and manufacturing line for robotic hardware. Own DFM, tooling, fixtures, inspection criteria, root-cause analysis, corrective action, supplier management, standard work, documentation, and manufacturing capacity planning. This hands-on role requires personally building hardware and collaborating closely with engineers and technicians at TAR’s San Francisco robotics facility.

Own TAR’s software strategy, architecture, and technical roadmap across platform, data, cloud infrastructure, and internal and customer-facing systems. Build and lead the software engineering organization, establish engineering, security, and reliability standards, and drive the full software lifecycle. Partner with autonomy and robotics teams on telemetry and data interfaces while representing software strategy to executives, customers, partners, and investors.

Leads manufacturing engineering across TAR’s robotics product lines, transitioning from prototype and low-rate builds to reliable higher-volume production. Responsibilities include defining strategy, building the engineering organization, planning capital equipment and capacity, establishing company-wide quality and documentation standards, managing supplier and contract manufacturer strategy, and driving root-cause and continuous-improvement processes. The role advises executives on investment, make-versus-buy, and production decisions and represents manufacturing engineering with external stakeholders.

Lead the end-to-end architecture and development of robotic systems for large-scale solar construction. Design and iterate on hardware and software, establish engineering, testing, validation, and documentation standards, close technical capability gaps, mentor the robotics team, and coordinate with hardware, software, manufacturing, and deployment leaders. The role is hands-on and based in San Francisco with regular travel to West Texas.

Build software for renewable energy campuses, including high-fidelity simulations, geospatial data pipelines, automated site and electrical design, and energy management systems. Develop real-time controls, SCADA and telemetry integrations, testing infrastructure, and safety systems for islanded solar and storage facilities. Collaborate with power, civil, and external engineering experts to convert domain knowledge into reliable software and accelerate utility-scale site design and deployment.

Own TAR’s federal government relations strategy across energy, tax, AI infrastructure, permitting, trade, and data center policy. Build congressional and Administration relationships, influence legislation and regulations, manage lobbyists and trade associations, coordinate political visibility and testimony, ensure lobbying compliance, and align federal advocacy with state, local, development, and communications teams.

Own full-cycle recruiting for TAR’s San Francisco R&D team across robotics, hardware, and software. Responsibilities include sourcing passive candidates, advising hiring leaders, managing structured interviews in Ashby, closing offers, improving candidate experience, strengthening employer brand, and analyzing recruiting metrics. The recruiter will help scale hiring rapidly while recruiting technical talent from engineering and related industries.

Design and validate mechanical systems for deployment machines: chassis, drivetrains, manipulators, and end effectors. Produce CAD, detailed drawings, GD&T, and DFM handoff. Run FEA and fatigue analysis, build and test prototypes, and drive vendor relationships to scale prototypes into field-deployed fleets in harsh outdoor environments.

Lead end-to-end project finance for multi-GW off-grid renewable power projects: structure capital stacks, monetize tax credits, build and defend project finance models, manage diligence and lender/investor processes, ensure financeability of commercial and supply agreements, oversee post-close finance operations, and scale the project finance team.

Design and own electrical systems for off-grid deployment robots: end-to-end PCB design, power electronics and battery systems, motor drives integration, sensor and compute integration, EMI/EMC and safety, field bring-up and debugging, and manufacturer handoff for production.

Lead design and validation of islanded power controls and supervisory EMS for off-grid solar+storage data center campuses. Define control architecture, vendor specifications, EMT studies, real-time HIL validation, FAT/SAT protocols, and lead commissioning through energization while building the in-house EMS and controls team.

Manage day-to-day operations of the San Francisco robotics workshop: tools, equipment, contractors, purchasing, inbound/outbound logistics, inventory, shop safety, and operational projects to keep engineers unblocked.

Work directly with founders to solve ambiguous, high-impact problems end-to-end: drive GW-scale project delivery, stand up new functions, remove engineering blockers, support financing workstreams, hire across levels, and handle on-site operational troubleshooting including travel to West Texas.
