AltaGas - Senior Analyst, Derivatives
Are you ready to dive into the dynamic world of derivatives? As our Senior Analyst, Derivatives you’ll be at the forefront of financial innovation, tackling complex technical research, ensuring top-notch compliance, and delivering insightful reporting and analysis.
You Will:

Review commodity and other complex contracts to determine proper accounting treatment, notably under FASB ASC Topic 815 (Derivatives and Hedging)

Prepare the monthly mark to market entry including validating the calculation of routine and complex derivatives

Prepare monthly management reports, schedules and explanations, including monthly variance analysis of derivatives balances

Prepare, reconcile and confirm monthly statements with financial trade counterparties

Settle financial trades including OTC and exchange transactions in the system of record including ensuring margin transactions are executed timely and accurately.

Assist with quarterly and annual external audits; provide reports as requested to External and Internal Audit

Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with Internal Controls of Financial Reporting (ICFR) and risk management policies and procedures

Build strong working relationships with commercial and risk to ensure contracts requiring review are identified in a timely manner
You Have:

A minimum of 5 years in a comparable role within a public company

Strong understanding of internal accounting controls and SOX guidelines
-
Proficiency in derivatives accounting is highly desirable

Experience in overseeing risk management is a significant advantage
