THE ROLE:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst to join our Financial Reporting team in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for providing accounting expertise and advice to support business initiatives and activities for PETRONAS Canada. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in financial reporting and the ability to effectively handle working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

Prepare monthly and quarterly financial analysis and financial statements

Perform and review month-end accruals, manual journal entries, and reconciliations

Manage data models to prepare monthly forecasts

Gather, interpret, and synthesize financial data and information
-
Analyze results and prepare reporting packages to management

Conduct accounting research and analysis to support internal and external customers

Create and build strong business relationships with a range of functional business leaders
-
Develop a detailed understanding of the financial reporting processes
-
Assist with external quarterly and annual assurance engagements
-
Stay informed on emerging practices and trends impacting activities through relevant training sessions, industry association events and publications
WHAT YOU BRING:
-
Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance
-
CPA professional designation is preferred
-
4+ years of relevant experience
-
Practical experience and understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards

Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with all levels in the organization

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail

Flexibility to meet the demands of an international company

Proficiency with SAP S/4Hanna, Analysis for Office, PowerBI, and Excel are considered assets

Leverages new and existing tools to manage data and provide informed analysis
