Resident Mission, Purpose & Impact
Frequently Asked Questions
At Resident, the company’s mission is reflected in how teams connect their work to meaningful customer outcomes and overall business impact.
Employees often describe the mission as aligned with their day-to-day responsibilities, with opportunities to contribute to initiatives that directly support customers and improve their experience. This may include projects tied to product innovation, customer experience improvements, and efforts that enhance quality and accessibility across Resident’s brands.
Leadership aims to further embed the mission by connecting company objectives with its values in day-to-day work, discussing progress in company-wide forums, and aligning product and business strategies with long-term impact.
Resident seeks to make a positive impact through sustainability efforts, charitable partnerships, and initiatives that connect its work to broader community outcomes.
For example, through its Awara brand, Resident has supported tree-planting efforts, reporting that up to 10 trees may be planted for every Awara mattress sold.
Resident has also supported charitable organizations in both the U.S. and UK, including partnerships with organizations such as the British Heart Foundation. Through these efforts, Nectar Sleep has contributed approximately £1.2 million to support initiatives focused on heart and circulatory health.
Employees also have the opportunity to participate in the company’s Charitable Giving Program, where they can nominate local charities within their communities for company-supported donations, helping to extend Resident’s impact to causes that are personally meaningful across its distributed workforce.
Employees often point to sustainability initiatives, charitable efforts, and opportunities to contribute to community-focused programs as ways the company’s impact is reflected in day-to-day work. These efforts are supported through ongoing initiatives and partnerships that aim to align business activities with broader environmental and social considerations.
Resident’s commitment to its values: Excellence, Big Thinking, Inclusivity, Customer Love, and Forward Momentum; is reflected in how decisions are made, how teams operate, and how progress is communicated across the organization.
Leaders aim to reinforce these values by connecting them to business priorities, discussing them in company-wide forums (such as the monthly All Hands meeting), and incorporating them into team goals and day-to-day decision-making. For example, teams are encouraged to pursue high standards (Excellence), think beyond incremental improvements (Big Thinking), foster inclusive collaboration (Inclusivity), prioritize customer outcomes (Customer Love), and continuously improve and adapt (Forward Momentum).
The annual review process centers around our five values, and we highlight employees embodying those values each month in our Culture Awards. These are presented in our monthly All Hands meeting and come with a cash prize.
